West Riverfront Block Party

West Riverfront Block Party is a one-day only family-friendly event that takes place from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, September 18, at the future home of Ralph C. Wilson Centennial Park.  Highlights include stages with musical performances by local and national acts, children’s activities, a selection of food trucks, acrobatic Jet-Ski demonstrations, and a zip line.

 

Doors open at 11 a.m. with numerous local acts taking the stage throughout the day.  Acts will cover several genres of music, including rock, soul R and B and pop.  National entertainers take the main stage beginning at 7 p.m. with R & B and gospel songstress Kelly Price.  Headliner El DeBarge takes the stage at 8:30 p.m. performing R & B hits spanning his solo career as well as from DeBarge, the successful act he fronted in the 80s, which also featured his siblings.  Full music line-up available here

 

Twenty of Detroit’s most popular food trucks will provide food for purchase throughout the day and will offer such culinary creations as Mexican food, Middle Eastern, gourmet hot dogs, desserts and more.  Children’s activities in the Adventure Park will include fun obstacle courses and games, with make and take crafts, a monster mural and fun experiments from the Michigan Science Center in the Family tent.

 

Fan favorite Typhoon Tommy, a regular performer at the Conservancy’s River Days event for many years, will be back with his team with shows throughout the day that showcase their high-flying and acrobatic Jet Ski skills.
